Making Waves Graal Vase

Making Waves Graal Vase

Handblown vase inspired by Scandinavian glassblowing techniques. Graal is a type of decorative glass developed by Simon Gate at Orrefors of Sweden in 1916. The design is carved on a colored glass starter bubble, which is then reheated and cased in a thick layer of transparent glass of a different color, and inflated. Making art glass in this technique spans a week or two.

There are only a few Graal pieces created in the studio throughout the year, and AO Glass has decided to make these pieces available through Artful Home.

The Making Waves Vase is fully decorated with blue spirals illustrated in the glass starter bubble, then the vase is blown with blue glass. Signed on the bottom by Rich Arentzen as a symbol of authenticity and limited production.
