Ruffled Moonbeam Urn
Every handmade glass piece begins with a small gather of molten glass, collected on the end of a blowpipe. This glowing orb is brought to the bench and rotated in a wooden block—a water-soaked cup that helps cool and shape the glass into a smooth, round form. When the form is complete, it is carefully placed into a 950°F annealing oven. This step is critical—it slowly cools the glass, relieving internal stresses to prevent cracking. The annealing process takes many hours, and only the following morning can the finished piece be safely removed, handled, and inspected for form, color, and craftsmanship.
