True North

This image was inspired by the area where the artist lives; a place where boats are made, sailed, and enjoyed. Inspired by her experience as a rower, rafter, and kayaker, the artist evokes the feeling of floating quietly on the surface of the water. Glass powders, white sheet glass, and glass stringer combine to create this image of a boat. Stringers of glass are tacked to the surface to create another layer of textural interest to the piece, and also to add symbolic imagery. A metal cleat on the back allows for easy hanging using two screws. Piece floats off the wall about an inch.
