Oranges, Blossoms, and Bees Terracotta Tile

Sherman sculpts the original design out of oil clay to create the model from which she makes a plaster mold. She then pours terracotta colored ceramic slip into the mold to create the finished piece. She goes back into this finished piece and sculpts more three dimensionality and detail before she fires and glazes the piece with low fire ceramic glazes. Appropriate for outdoor display when temperatures are above freezing.
