Masked Landscape

Several different abstract facial expressions meld into the landscape as they flow around the form. Intense colors are accentuated by black curved shapes and lines. The canvas for this artwork is a lightweight dried gourd, which is first dried, opened, and emptied of its seeds. A protective matte varnish is then applied, preserving the colors and finish. The vessel has a display stand, enabling viewers to appreciate the various combinations of patterns from every angle.
