Mini Black and White

Is it white shapes on a black background or white on black? This figure/ground vessel is filled with imaginary creatures, portraits, symbols and objects that play around the surface. The canvas for this artwork is a lightweight dried gourd, which is first dried, opened, and emptied of its seeds. A protective matte varnish is then applied, preserving the colors and finish. Each vessel has a display stand, enabling viewers to appreciate the various combinations of patterns from every angle.
