Woodfired Figure Series 4 - Figure Study with Heart, Woodfired IV

The surface on this one-of-a-kind stoneware clay figure with a heart cut-out was achieved by the atmospheric firing wood-fired kiln: the kiln is fueled with woods of variable size throughout its seven-day firing. The ash is carried on the flame and airflow throughout the kiln until landing on the surface of a piece, vaporizing to become glaze. A poignant reminder of the love in all of our hearts.
